Acupressure Prickly Pad
Acupressure Prickly Pad
Stimulate the Body's Own Unique Resources
to Relieve Pain and Heal Maladies.
The
Prickly Pad™ is an acupressure pad based on ancient science. This acupressure
(Reflexo-therapy) applicator is combining Indian and traditional Chinese
medicine. Both Eastern medical systems have been proven as healing methods
to eliminate many ailments and diseases.
Throughout history medical practitioners of many cultures have used
the wisdom of Ayurveda (Ayu meaning "life" and Veda meaning "knowledge
of") to treat a variety of diseases and discomfort. Though the exact
date of the earliest acupressure/acupuncture mat is unknown, the use
of "bed of nails" or "fakir mat" as it was called
then, has been recorded in writings by traveling monks between 1,000
and 700 B.C. The Chinese pilgrim, I Tsing, was known for acquiring knowledge
of Indian medicine and bringing it back to China around 700 B.C. Similarities
between Indian and Chinese health cultures are therefore not surprising.
For instance, the neuralgic points, which play a key role in acupuncture,
are also known in Ayurveda. The primary difference is the Chinese use
needles to stimulate these important nerve and energy points, whereas
the Ayurvedic doctors use pressure massages - a kind of early acupressure.
In Western medicine, therapy through skin stimulation has had a long
tradition as well. It is commonly accepted that dry-brushing the skin
stimulates blood circulation. Massage is another technique that has been
used to relax cramped-up muscles and decrease pain. Hydro therapy has
been in use for hundreds of years to alleviate a myriad of disorders.
The use of low frequency electrical current to stimulate the healing
processes is yet another method used by Western medicine to increase
blood circulation and to decrease pain.
The Prickly Pad™ was first developed and introduced in the late 1970s
in former USSR. Since then, more than 70 million applicators have been
sold in Europe and Russia. Russian inventor Kuznesov followed the principals
of the "bed of nails" and the when he developed the applicator
known as Iplikator Kuznesov. (He replaced the 'A' from 'Applicator' with
an 'I' - the first letter of the Russian word for needle, Igla.)
The Prickly Pad™ combines the best of both the ancient Eastern medicine
practice of acupressure/acupuncture and Western medicine practice. Both
stimulate the body's own unique resources to relieve pain and heal maladies.
