What Is Arsenic?

Arsenic is a semi-metal element that is odorless and tasteless. It enters drinking water supplies from natural deposits in the earth or from agricultural and industrial practices. Non-cancer effects can include thickening and discoloration of the skin, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting; diarrhea; numbness in hands and feet; partial paralysis; and blindness. Arsenic has been linked to cancer of the bladder, lungs, skin, kidney, nasal passages, liver and prostate.

How Do You Filter Arsenic From Water?

CuZn uses a synthetic resin embedded with ferrous oxide to attract and bind the arsenic. The cartridge is rated at 1500-2000 gallons and best changed once a year. The cartridge is more suited for municipal sources where the arsenic would be mostly or all in the A5/ arsenate form. If more than 25% of the arsenic is in the A3/arsenite form, this cartridge may not perform satisfactorily.

But CuZn water filtration products don't stop there. The CuZn Double Cartridge Arsenic Water Filter includes a combination of trace minerals (copper and zinc in the patented form of KDF® 55, which meets NSF standards 42 and 61) and acid washed coconut shell carbon, the CuZn Refillable Countertop water filter removes more than 600 contaminants from water, including chlorine, lead, heavy metals, trihalomethanes (THMs), herbicides and pesticides much the same as Nature uses the earth and its minerals to cleanse water. (Unlike carbon-only filters, bacteria can't grow inside the bacteriostatic CuZn filters!)

The CuZn Arsenic Water Filter for drinking water is also excellent in situations where sulfur and iron are present and a CuZn Whole House system is not feasible. Sulfur and iron expends the media more quickly than other contaminants, so refilling the system is economical and environmentally responsible.

The CuZn Refillable Well Water Undersink Arsenic Filter works beneath any home or office sink to filter up to 10,000 gallons of cold water on demand! Using a combination of patented trace minerals (Copper-Zinc) which has been tested to NSF standard 42 and 61, and acid wash coconut shell carbon. This system like our in-line and other systems will remove and/or reduce chlorine, sediment, algae, molds, scale, bad taste, odors, and other undesirable contaminants that may effect the quality of your water supply.
